Research Assistant – Youth Community Champions
The Arctic Institute of Community-Based Research is currently seeking a full-time Research Assistant.
This position will contribute to the work of Climate Change Youth Champions’ project, with organizing, implementing and managing Community Assessment activities with Youth Champions, plan logistics for travel, take field notes, analyze and prepare reports, and liaise and build partnerships with communities and others to integrate mechanisms for sustainability of the project.
Responsibilities will include communications including drafting newsletters, posting information on our website and social media, taking notes during meetings, drafting project updates and facilitating communications with our projects partners. Coordination of meetings & training, and managing project specific communications. Logistics include organizing travel and accommodations and completing travel documents.
Ideal candidates will have a minimum of an Undergraduate degree, have relevant experience conducting research or needs assessments, and show an interest and possess basic knowledge in areas of climate change and community-based research. Prior experience working with Yukon First Nations communities is an asset; demonstrate a good understanding of Yukon Indigenous Peoples, excellent writing, analytical and organizational skills, strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, good planning and organization skills; be able to travel often at short notice, and can work well as part of a team and independently.
Position: March 8t, 2018 to March 31, 2019
- 30 -35 hours per week.
- The position may be extended by mutual agreement.
- Compensation: $24-$27/hour, commensurate with experience.
