Support the Arctic Institute of Community-Based Research!
Your support allows us to continue working to advance health and well-being for northern communities and environments. Our work focuses on bringing people together and facilitating action on solving complex health issues at both the community (grassroots) and policy (grass-tips) levels. We build capacity, promote intersectoral collaboration, and work with communities to advance their own health priorities, while taking a strengths-based and whole-of-community approach. Over the last ten years since our inception, we've worked with northern Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities, governments (Indigenous, municipal, territorial and federal), other non-profit and research organizations, the private sector, academics, as well as students and youth from across Canada and the North. The work that we've been able to achieve together demonstrates the power, dedication and resilience of northern people when working in equal partnership with each other on the issues that matter most matter to us.
Our current priorities are:
Food Security & Food Sovereignty
Climate Change Adaptation
Youth Engagement & Mental Health
Chronic Disease Prevention
By supporting AICBR, you can help promote action on issues of northern importance. The money that is raised will go directly to supporting initiatives that build capacity of Northern Indigenous youth in becoming champions of climate change adaptation, support work on northern food security, mental health and wellness, and empower Northern communities to become more self-sufficient by facilitating the development of community-driven food security and climate change adaptation strategies. Resources will also go towards mobilizing new and existing knowledge to advance action on priority issues, bring people together from various sectors to advance northern food security and healthy lifestyles, and raise northern voices at national and international levels to inform policy related to northern health and well-being.
